Writers' Block

Posted By: L D Horne on March 09, 2007 Writers' Block I have been sitting here pondering and scheming On something I could write that shows meaning I'm dealing with elusive metaphors But everytime I am feeling a new score To verbalize word wise I can't come up with a reprise To make a conclusive verse Because I am stuck with this elusive curse Known as writers' block For some unknown reason, my brain is on lock- Down and up as my prose comes and goes I think of a hot line and then I'm froze Like a block of ice cause my minds on lock As I sit here once again in writers' block I think about my current state of events But for some reason this doesn't make sense How my ideas seem to elude When on the norm ideas flow no matter the mood No one doubts my poetical skills But ink on my paper does not seem to fill Tabula Rasa, my minds like an empty slate Because I have nothing to bring to the plate Like an injured batter My RBIs are tattered As my percentages take a hit Because I can't get a hit So I guess I'll continue to sit And wonder why my mind is on lock- Down and up as my prose comes and goes I think of a hot line and then I'm froze Like a block of ice cause my minds on lock As I sit here once again in writers' block Like a basehead waiting to get that next hit I'm st-st-stammering and stuttering while havin a fit Or like an old person with Alzhiemer's disease As the ideas disappear with ease It's frustrating as I try to share my gift Cause my ideas seem to drift In and out of the lane like a driver under the influence This is insane--I am not used to this So I'll proceed to chase that metaphor down Like a hunter until the prey is actually found So I can finally express something profound And my epiphanies to make the crowd dumbfound I want to continue to resound But all I can do is look around And watch my fellow poets create While my ideas evaporate... Wow...that was crazy. You gotta real good use of vocabulary, and ya metaphors were sick. U can definately do tha damn thing. Keep em commin...imma fan.
