The color and black and white photographs will be on display in the Amos White IV Art Gallery located on the first floor of the MLK Communications Arts Building. The public is invited to join the artist in the gallery for a reception on Thursday, March 15, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Over the last three decades, Williams has participated in many exhibitions including “Banding Together,” Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum in 2007; “Saturday Night/Sunday Morning,” a traveling exhibition curated by Deborah Willis in 2006; the Prince George’s Community College Tenth Annual African-American Artists’ Exhibition in 2003; The Exposure Group’s exhibit “Portraits of African-American Life,” The Gallery of African Wildlife & Contemporary Art in Capitol Heights, MD in 1999; “Moments In Time” in the U.S. Cannon House Office Building Rotunda in Washington, D.C. sponsored by U.S. Rep. Williams is a Washington, D.C. native who began his career in 1972 as a staff photographer for the “Washington Afro-American Newspaper.” Often described as an artist without a brush and self-taught photographer, Williams enjoys the challenge of getting the picture. His works represent a visual record of historic events, celebrity and political figures. In 1979, he photographed Pope John Paul II and President Jimmy Carter in the Oval Office during the Pope’s first visit to Washington, D.C. --more-- Page 2 NEWS RELEASE Williams is a founding member of The Exposure Group and has been a member of the White House News Photographers Association for almost 30 years.
