Barak Obama??

Barak Obama??
Posted By: Dawayne Starr on March 17, 2007

My brothas and sistas. This is one of them times where its nice to know what another black person thinks. Now I ain't shy so don't yall be. But I got a question that I don't fully understand and I don't think alot of other black people fully understand it either. But my question is this...Why should black people vote for Barak Obama? I really don't understand why. Don't get me wrong its nice to vote for somebody black but.......this raises two questions in my mind. The first is How do you know when you are "black".

I ask this because technically Barak Obama is not "all black". What makes you "black"? Is being half black "good enough"? The second question is what do we really know about Barak Obama? Im not saying all black people are clueless and imautre but sometimes thats how we act. Some just see a dark skinned man and decide to vote for him. So what do we know about him really? What are his political views? What does he plan to do in office? I don't know do you? If we really don't know anything about Barak Obama why should we vote for him? Tell me what you think.

Barack Obama is one of the most intellectual minds of our time. He is currently following in the footsteps of out 16th President Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln was a president that made moves, made stuff happen. Barack is also a good getter. In todays world there are so many mixes that being held accountable for race is uncalled for. To be real...he is more black than alot of people. His father is Kenyian..how many BLACK people do u know with direct ties to Africa. Me personally have direct ties...my father is Nigerian and I have a Nigerian passport. If u disregard race as an issue..Obama is still more that qualitied...LOOK UP IF YA DONT BELIEVE ME.

Good question Dawayne. I'm trying to figure that out too. I say that, not because I can't find a reason to vote for him, but its hard to block out the agendas on all sides and sift through to the facts and which candidate is most in tune with what I need. For me it's also a matter of who could I support through the mistakes? Each one has his share, but I'm concerned with a core direction and value system and strategy that I am generally agreeable with. The Black/White issue is a sidebar for me. Sure I would like to see one of my own up there, but that is overshadowed by putting my two cent in for the candidate who I back with my vote as a good choice. If the one I agree with happens to be Black, I am PROUD we've reached that level! Outside of the race card, there are some legitimate concerns about Barak, such as experience, popularity in some key states, strategy for "making it happen"... Some things are hard to work through in application, even with the best intentions. But, so far, I like his conversation. I am proud to see a man of color with the integrity, education and application of it, that transcends divides like his does. Would love to hear from some of the politically connected in our community on this issue...

Barrack Obama is the best democratic canidate out there if you ask me. Not because he's black but because he's the best. I don't live to far from Illinois and him being a senator from chicago I have seen and felt the effect he has had there. His daycare program for mothers sets a great example for the rest of the states. So much so my state is attempting to copy his program. I believe in his campaign because I love what he has to say but regaurdless of that I actually believe he will follow through on what he says. Oh and what is "black enough" because according to the one drop rule your as black as can be and frankly that's what I go by.

Also a comparison to Lincolin in my mind is an insult to this man Lincolin isn't the savior people think he is. He freed the slaves only in the south and not the north and he did that only as a punishment to the south from succeeding. I just hate that he gets credit for freeing the slaves. People need to know that the sound of freedom doesn't mean your actually free.
