HEMMANS III on March 28, 2007 STORY ABOUT RACISM *I received this email today from a Dr. Charles Mills a member at this website and felt compelled to pass this on and I am wondering if anyone else know about this. I have heard about Hilfigur comments about his clothes were not made for black people* (The Email): Don't know if this is true because I did not see the show, but if it is . .......... RACISM 1) I'm sure many of you watched the recent taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger. On the show, she asked him if the statements about race he was accused of saying were true. Statements like"..."If I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics, Jewish and Asians would buy my clothes, I WOULD NOT have made them so nice. I wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes, as they are made for upper class white people." His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES". Where after she immediately asked him to leave her show. My suggestion? Don't buy your next shirt or perfume from Tommy Hilfiger. Let's give him what he asked for. Let's not buy his clothes, let's put Him in a financial state where he himself will not be able to afford the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes. BOYCOTT. PLEASE SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ANYONE YOU KNOW. Then send it to the whole community that's not white people and see the result. We have to see the result of unity. Let's find out if Non-whites really play such a small part in the world. Stop buying any range of their product, perfume, cosmetics, clothes, bags, etc. Please do not Delete it without sending it to at least one person. Just wanted to point you to a site called Snopes that provides you updates on urban legend, hoaxes. This story has being going around since 1996 and the Snopes link provides info on it as being not true. Below is the link: http://www.snopes.com/racial/business/hilf... Hello CH, appreciate the information and the update, I did not know what to make of this and I was asking was anyone aware of this. Again I have heard of the comment but nothing indepth like this and I did find it difficult to believe that a fashion designer would make such blatant comments on national t.v., even though racism does exist (it's) not rare and I have heard for myself racist blatant statements on t.v., news etc. Appreciate again and feel free to always comment as you choose. Tommy Hilfiger was actually on the Oprah Show this month Aug.,2007 and I was shocked because the first question she asked him was had he EVER been on her show before. His answer was no. This e-mail is absolutely not true. They discussed the harm that this e-mail had caused him and his family, how the e-mail first said just blacks and was extended to jews and others, and all the good Hilfiger had done for the community. Please let your friends know that those original comments were not true.
