Posted By: Jehan Bunch on May 07, 2007 Xavier's Dumas named Louisiana Small College Player of the Year May 4, 2007 NEW ORLEANS -- Xavier University of Louisiana's Shaun Dumas has been selected the Louisiana Small College Player of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches. Shaun Dumas Dumas will receive his award Saturday during the LABC's 33rd annual awards banquet at the Holiday Inn Select, 4728 Constitution Ave. in Baton Rouge. The banquet will begin at 6 p.m. Dumas is a 5-foot-11 sophomore point guard from New Orleans and a 2004 graduate of St. Augustine High School. He averaged 13.2 points, 6.1 assists and 3.1 steals this past season for the Gold Rush, which was 22-10, shared the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference regular-season championship with Tougaloo and reached the second round of the NAIA Division I National Tournament for the first time since 1973. Dumas ranked third in NAIA Division I in steals per game and fifth in assists per game. Dumas is the first Xavier winner in the eight-year history of the award.
