Meet the Georges!
|
Posted By: Taj George on May 14, 2007 Initially, when my husband and I were approached about doing the I Married A Baller show for TV One we were both apprehensive - we believed that nothing good could possibly come out of doing a reality show that would ultimately air all of our dirty laundry! But, when the producers of the show, Shannon Love and Datari Turner, stressed their desire to showcase a positive African-American family, I knew this was something my husband and I wanted to be a part of. When we really thought about it, we figured that we didn't have anything to lose. We consider our family to be as normal as night and day. Although we have our issues (and every family has them) there is nothing about our family that we would consider to be out of the ordinary. Now, if you consider our sick love for our pets, my sugar fetish, our wild and crazy families, and the songs that my husband and I create to inspire our children than yes, we can be a little "off" at times - but nothing too far fetched. We felt that it would be a privilege to promote a loving, positive family for this television show. Then TV One approached me about doing this weekly blog that would allow the viewers to get more involved with our show. They wanted to be able to encourage the viewers to respond to each show. I thought that this would be a great idea! I'm a very emotional person and love to interact with people. My family had a great time filming, but we had no idea what to expect from the final cut. Amazingly, our simple lives took on a whole new pace during tapings. You can see how my husband handles the pressure of his dad becoming seriously ill during his college Hall of Fame induction; how I handle the loss of my beloved pug, Shannon Audrey; how I'm still struggling to get my baby weight off; how my husband manages his career after football and his fitness company; how my husband and I reach out to women of domestic violence through our foundation, Visions with Infinite Possibilities ; the creation of my first book, "Player hateHER: Why Can't Women Just Get Along?" and so much more. I'll be updating the blog all season to discussing the show or anything that you may want to talk about. No topic is too big or small! There may be some blogs where I just want to talk about something that's been on my mind. My family invites you to take a peek into our lives… Welcome to our world!
