Reunions!

Posted By: Taj George on May 21, 2007 I absolutely love spending time with my friends and family. Since Eddie and I live in Nashville and do a lot of traveling it’s hard for us to get back to our hometowns. It is also hard for our loved ones to get to Nashville because they have jobs and responsibilities that prevent them from being able to visit as often as I would like. Recently I got a chance to kick it with four of my very best girlfriends: Katrina, Lamona, Gwendolyn and Nicole – I love them so much! They know me, they understand me and I know that I can trust them in any situation. When Gwen proposed that we all go camping, we were all ready to pack our bags and go. The camping trip came at a perfect time because Katrina and I had just wrapped up the V.I.P. tour and I needed a place to just release and let loose. The cameras can only show but so much, but we had a ball! We danced and had homemade drinks with good food. By the end of the camping trip I was ready to hit the road again – I had been re-energized. After camping, I went back home to Brooklyn, where my mother I also buried. Whenever I go back I always try to find time to put fresh flowers on her grave. As you saw on the show, I tend to get a little worked up, but it’s because I lost my mom at the age of 14 and my dad when I was nine. I went through a period where I felt abandoned. I promised myself that I would do everything in my power to live a healthy, long life for my children because I never, ever want to leave them prematurely. For this reason I know I tend to smother my son more than I should, but he’s my baby boy! I can’t help it. When I go home I also try to see my brothers – they are my world! I don’t care what I’m doing or where I’m going, I always keep my brothers close to my heart. When I was growing up, I felt like it was just us against the world, and even now that we all have our own families I still feel like it will always be that way. We have had to endure so much together with the loss of our mom and the situations that followed. Now, my family and I are working very hard to create a stable environment for our children. If my brothers and I had a mission statement it would be to provide opportunities for our children to grow and reach for the stars. Although I love to spoil my nieces and nephews and my own son, I have to catch myself because I don’t want them to be rotten. What I do want is for them to know that nothing is impossible as long as they stay on the right track. --Taj If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |

Hey Taj, I love the way you are with your family. You are so real and up front it is very refresing to see someone on TV with personality. I think that you and Eddie's relationship is great you seem very close with yours and Eddie's status you are both just very down to earth. I love the show and would like to see you more on a sitcom or your own show. You deserve it... Sunday, June 3rd 2007 at 12:33PM |
