Posted By: Jehan Bunch on July 03, 2007

NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana has signed Milo Barry of Baltimore, Md., to a men's cross country scholarship for the 2007-08 school year, Coach Joseph Moses announced Monday. Barry won Baltimore city and Class 1A Central Regional championships as a junior at Digital Harbor High School in 2005. At the regional meet he ran a personal best of 17 minutes, 19.7 seconds for 5,000 meters. As a senior he was third in the city and regional meets and ran ninth in the 1A state meet. Barry, 5-foot-11 and 145 pounds, made the Baltimore Sun newspaper's All-City team as a senior and the All-City indoor track team as a junior. Barry will be one of two Baltimore freshmen running cross country for Xavier.

The other is former Western High female standout Brittany Everett, whose signing was announced in April.

A third Baltimore resident, forward/center Erica Turnbull (Polytechnic Institute), was All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference for Xavier in women's basketball as a junior this past season. Xavier won GCAC men's and women's team championships in 2006, and Moses was selected GCAC and Louisiana Coach of the Year in men's and women's cross country. Moses also announced that Xavier tennis standout Mario Myles will join the men's cross country team. Myles, from Stone Mountain, Ga., was All-GCAC as a freshman this past season at No. 3 singles and at No. 1 doubles with Terry Richardson. Xavier's cross country newcomers for 2007:
