Home Of Afeni Shakur Burns Down

Home Of Afeni Shakur Burns Down
Posted By: T. Money on July 08, 2007

It has been confirmed that the guesthouse on property owned by Afeni Shakur caught fire around 7pm on Friday.

Shakur, mother of the late hip-hop impresario Tupac Shakur, and others were not in that part of the estate at the time and no injuries have been reported.

The fire was contained with the efforts of three fire departments, but the guest home was "gutted," said a spokesperson for Shakur.

"I would sincerely like to thank the professional and volunteer firefighters and our neighbors who quickly came to our rescue and helped extinguish the fire," said Afeni, via a statement from her publicist. "We are truly blessed to have their vigilant and neighborly care. We were fortunate that no one was at the home at the time."

It is currently unclear as to what started the blaze, but authorities are investigating the matter.

Afeni's property in Robeson County, North Carolina sits on 56-acres, where Shakur is said to grow crops and raise animals.
