Get to know the National Alliance of Black School Educators

Get to know the National Alliance of Black School Educators
Posted By: Daniel Moss on July 09, 2007

Did you know that black men today make up 41 percent of the inmates in federal state, and local prisons; but make up only 4 percent of all students in American institutions of higher learning?
Did you know that the African Americans have a high school drop out rate is twice that of white students?
Did you know that African American boys represent only 9 percent of the total student enrollment in public schools, yet in the category of mental retardation their enrollment percentage is more than double (20%)?
These startling statistics CANNOT stand. The National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) is attempting to address these issues and more.
NABSE is the nation¡¦s premiere African American non-profit organization devoted to furthering the academic success for the nation¡¦s children - particularly children of African descent. Attendees meet on Capitol Hill for a legislative update from Congressional members and later convene in smaller breakout sessions with state and federal education officials, researchers, White House staffers and others to develop strategies and recommendations to assist NABSE in its mission.
