The Ugly Black Doll

Posted By: M Smith on July 10, 2007 In 1941 two psychologists designed a test to study the psychological effects of segregation on Black children. In the "test," they showed dolls to Black children between the ages of 3 and 7, and then asked which they preferred. Most of the children selected the White doll and attributed positive characteristics to it. Do you care what color the dolls are that your children play with? Why or why not?
