Posted By: Jehan Bunch on July 23, 2007 House Bill Would Give Black Colleges an Additional $125-Million The U.S. House of Representatives approved an amendment on Wednesday that would provide an additional $125-million for historically black colleges and graduate schools in the coming fiscal year. The amendment, which was offered during floor debate on the Education Department spending bill for the 2008 fiscal year, would provide $100-million more for historically black colleges and $25-million more for historically black graduate institutions - increases of 40 percent. To pay for the increase, the amendment would cut $125-million from a $394-million Education Department account used to reorganize the staff and rent conference rooms and cars.
