Coordinator for Diverse Student Recruitment and Programming

Posted By: Jehan Bunch on August 21, 2007 Job Description: Complement regular recruiting initiatives of Office of Admission by developing, coordinating and implementing on- and off-campus outreach programs targeting multicultural and other underrepresented students, with the specific goal of increasing the number of student visitors and matriculants from underrepresented groups; coordinate Future Leaders of America Program (FLOA) - a program designed to promote character and academic excellence among talented and motivated students of color; conduct initial and ongoing assessments of the effectiveness of outreach strategies; work in tandem with Admission and others involved in diversity initiatives on-campus to solicit their input and participation in outreach activities; coordinate on-campus programming and work closely with on-campus constituents to solicit their participation in outreach and recruitment activities; use familiarity with contemporary research on college access to design outreach strategies most likely increase number of underrepresented students served by Miami Middletown; establish collaborative relationships with key influencers of underrepresented student advancement to postsecondary education (including but not be limited to high school administrators and teachers, community-based groups, grant-supported programs, etc.). Job Qualifications/Requirements: Requirements: bachelor's degree required, master's preferred; five years demonstrated success in working with multicultural and other underrepresented student populations; experience with prospective and enrolled students in a university environment; demonstrable leadership and organizational skills, initiative, can-do attitude, and self-direction; ability to communicate easily and effectively with all constituents; ability to organize events and projects, make public presentations, and incorporate creativity and sensitivity in work; demonstrable knowledge and experience with computer systems and software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point; valid driver's license required; strongly desire interest in innovate enrollment services approaches, familiarity with Banner systems.
