Black Folks Will Dance 2 Anything

Posted By: O. Christopher Buckner on May 06, 2005 It might just be down here in Atlanta, but for some reason, it seems like music is just getting more and more ignorant. Case in point, Three Six Mafia's new song, entitled "You Must Not Know Who I Iz". It's so crazy, I can't stand it, yet I find myself singing it, and not just singing it, but enjoying it. It's so sad, anything can become music now. Look at Maceo. He doesn't rap, he just says sentences that rhyme. "Please give me space. Let me see your face. Checkin out your features, if u fine u can stay." That's freakin horrible. And if I hear T.I. say "polices" one more time, like it's a real word, I'm going to lose my mind. Other examples include: "Oh I Think Dey Like Me"- Dem Franchise Boyz (Seriously, that's the whole chorus, those words right there. If you haven't heard it, listen to White Tee, take out the chorus, and say those words, IT'S THE EXACT SAME!!) "Whats Happenin?!"- Trap Squad (And they don't even say 'happenin', the 'p's are replaced by 'n's. It really sets us back) "Hoe Sit Down"-Maceo (Again, that's the chorus. It speaks for itself.) "Girl Give Me That"- Lil Webbie & Bun B (Maybe it's just me, but doesn't that sound like a rape song?) And lest we all forget, the poster child for ignorant songs..... "So Icey"- Gucci Man and Young Jeezy (This one takes the cake, if for no other reason, they add an extra syllable to the word 'bracelet'. I just didn't think that it could be done.) Don't get me wrong, all of the above listed songs are real crunk at parties and stuff, but come on now, let's actually think about what we're dancin to.
