Where are all my Virgins at?!

Posted By: Catrina Toole on May 10, 2005 In the society that we live in today sex among teens is at an all time high! Let's not even start on the rates of STD's and pregnancies among teens either. Anywayz I remember when i was a senior in high school when me and my peoples seemed to realize that we were the minorities in the school, when i say minorities i am referring to virgins. It has gotten to the point where sex has become the norm on college campus' nationwide especially HBCU's. WHY IS THAT??? I for one am a virgin and is very proud to be one, but what about those who feel ashamed or left out because they cant agree with their peers when the topic of sex is brought up? When i usually tell someone that i am a virgn their first reaction is of shock or disbelief which i find pretty amusing. I think it's sad when the reaction to a virgin happens to be one of surprise or amazement wats really good with that! Surprisingly I get praise and compliments for remaining one and that builds up my self esteem even more. I commend those who are abstaining from sex rite now until marriage because that lets me know that I am not only one waiting until marriage. What we must do is stop jumping on those who are virgins, yes there are a few select people who will make fun a time or two about me being a virgin. So if there is anybody that agrees with me out there let me know....cuz all I wanna know is where are all my Virgins at??? Catrina I commend you and all the other virgins out there.....I dont see anything funny about you being a virgin....I too was on the same plan but peer pressure made me fall into being with the other crowd. I know since I have been attending an HBCU especially a small HBCU you cant help but to be celibate b/c you end up realizing that everyone on campus might as well end up sleeping with each other...When I was staying on campus there were at least 6 girls arguing with each other b/c they found out they all slept with the same dude and then come to find out there were more girls on campus who he slept with. So cherish yourself...Dont fall into temptation I know that you can be strong and hold out and give your husband the best gift he can receive on your wedding night. I agree with Tawana it takes A LOT of self discipline to be a virgin as well as to practice celibacy...Just stay determined and if you do get into a relationship just let him know hey its not going to be like that and if he gets mad then its his problem and not yours....Stay Strong
