The TSU Volleyball team saw back-to-back action this past weekend against OVC opponents UT-Martin on Friday night and Murray State on Saturday evening.

In game one against UT-Martin, UT-Martin scored the first point of the game but gave TSU the advantage to take control of the game when the Tigers took the 2-1 lead on a kill by Collese Dornan, claiming the 30-21 win.

With the Tigers motivated to do the same in game two, Kamille King gave the tigers the 19-9 lead by a service ace, and the tigers remained with lead for the rest of the game.

The Skyhawks was ready to take the lead in game three with a score tied 4-4, when UT-Martin went on a 6-2 run to extend the lead of the game to 10-6. The Skyhawks continued to take the lead in claiming the 30-27 win.

The Tigers and Skyhawks were ready to battle it out in game four. The score went back and forth with both teams claiming the lead with one point. With the score of 25-22, Tigers scored five straight points claiming the lead of the game.

Kelly Davis and Christian Lowe led the Tigers with 15 kills while Endia Oliver added 12 kills.



Candace Saleaumua recorded 19 digs, Melissa Silva had 17 digs and Christian Lowe posted 13 digs.

The Lady Tigers won its fifth straight OVC match and improved their record to 9-8 overall and 7-1 in the OVC.

With win on Friday night against UT-Martin, the Lady Tigers were geared up to continue its sixth game winning streak against Murray state on Saturday evening.

The Lady Tigers dropped to Murray State Saturday evening in Kean Hall.

In game one Murray State immediately took the momentum and took the 15-8 lead, forcing the Tigers to take a timeout in one game. Following the timeout, the Racers would continue to take the lead and steal the win of the game.

Game two was played very intense by both teams scoring back and forth. TSU had a better .308 hitting percentage than Murray's .213 hitting percentage. With the scored tied 24-24, Murray State would then outscore the Tigers several times to take the win of the game.

In game three both team's offense was off, while the Tigers claimed a brief 10-6 lead before Murray would come back on a 5-1 run. With the game being tied 12-12, the Racers would take the lead of the game to 15-12. Murray would hold on to the lead and take the win of the game.

The Lady Tigers will see action again against Austin Peay on Thursday Oct. 11 at 7pm in Kean Hall.
