Photographer John Crooms Releases HBCU Homecoming Photography Collection

Posted By: Tanya Crooms on November 25, 2007

Atlanta, GA (November 25, 2007) - The Black College, an unique and legendary institution that creates futures for the best and brightest Black Americans is also home to the social occasion simply called homecoming. Widely respected as the social event for all HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), homecomings have evolved into more than just a football game to a spectacular occasion with a wide range of events for alumni, friends, family and the community to celebrate. Now for the first time, photographer and HBCU Alumni, John Crooms releases two collections of work with the HBCU Homecoming Photography Collection, showcasing Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse and Spelman College.

Known for graduating affluent African Americans, the HBCU homecoming is the only social experience that holds major significance to current students and alumni alike. As the number of HBCU graduates increases so does the attendance and magnitude to which homecoming is celebrated.

The HBCU Homecoming Photography Collection brings the cheers of the crowd attending the big game to the pomp and pageantry of coronations, parades and tailgating all in one complete coffee table favorite.

Shot and designed by Crooms during the 2007 homecoming celebrations of Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse and Spelman College, this collection of work is yet another testament to Crooms' diligence in capturing the expressions and spirits of African Americans as they journey through life. To date John's work has been seen in Vibe, Jet, The Atlanta Journal Constitution and The Atlanta Daily World and many others.

With the release of this new body of work, John says, "My I goal is simple, showcase the moments that alumni from Clark-Atlanta University, Morehouse and Spelman College will be proud of while giving those who didn't make it this year a glimpse of all that they missed."

The HBCU Homecoming Photography Collection is available is both hard cover and soft cover. Follow this link to visit the books home page www.blurb.com/user/store/virgoredd.
