|
Posted By: Will Moss on May 13, 2005 College Sports Television has reached an agreement with the Southwestern Athletic Conference, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to televise football, basketball and other sports from the traditionally black schools in each conference. The multiyear deal gives CSTV the television and online marketing rights to SWAC, MEAC and SIAC sports, starting this fall. The SWAC and the MEAC are Division I conferences, with members playing Division I-AA football. The SIAC is a Division II conference. The new deal expands CSTV's pre-existing football agreement with the SWAC and will result in the creation of a Football Classic Series. Among the games already scheduled to be shown by CSTV are the Atlanta Football Classic between Florida A&M and Tennessee State on Sept. 24; the Gulf Coast Classic between Alabama State and Southern on Oct. 1; the Big Easy Classic between Southern and Jackson State on Oct. 15; and the Capital City Classic Mississippi rivals Jackson State and Alcorn State on Nov. 19. CSTV is the first 24-hour college sports network. If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
