Some Nappy Headed H#@s Part 1
|
Posted By: Rodney Hollingsworth on January 28, 2008 Many of you know that I'm in my pre-certification stage(s) of being a history teacher. Yet within the next two years (if I'm not in Hollywood or somewhere overseas), I'll be teaching a course entitled, "The Misogyny of Women in American Culture", which is a course I designed myself. I figured I'd give you a brieft synopsis before I get into my blog post so you could somewhat understand my concerns whether you agree or not. Now here goes. I'm highly frustrated with these young baby mommas whom are having children they don't attend to, spend time with, give the right affirmation to, nor discipline. I am also equally pissed off at these no good pussified baby daddies (notice I didn't say father), whom are bold enough to impregnate the woman, yet after the child is born, he abandons them. So now his daughter is 13 years old and promiscuous, thinks being called a b%$#* or a h#@ is a compliment, have no respect for herself, nappy headed and lacks pride in being a young lady. When I took a students cell phone, I noticed "Redd B%$#*" under her photo. I then asked her what's so cute about having that as a name? She stated to me that she likes and that she doesn't see anything wrong with it, and that her mom isn't tripping about. Right then, I wanted to quit my job because it seem so hopeless. I'm torn in my anger. Yes I blame the mother and father for such a poor job done, being that it's the father (ancestor) who provides the identity, value, love, self worth, and intimacy to their children. Yet I'm also mad at the school system who wants a teacher to do everything else except for discipline a child. They say the child is bad as hell, but you can't touch them. They can get up in a teachers' face, cuss them out, yet all they get is ISS or OSS, which are both a privilege to them. And why is it that the administration is harder on teachers than they are on students? Lastly, I'm also pissed off at the young boy and/or girl who thinks that they get cool points for being dumb as hell. Many of us were upset at Don Imus' infamous "Nappy Headed H#@s" comment regarding those educated women on the Rutgers basketball team. However, would we be just as upset if he said the same thing about Lil Ke Ke and her bald headed momma, who loves spending time with her nigga (yeah I said it...I'm angry) more than her own children? Could somebody help me out with this one please!!! I need a drink. LOL! If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
