Are HBCU's Still Relevant and/or Necessary?

Candice Johnson Morris College class of 2005 It is an article that appears every once in a while. As stated, the hbcu's mentioned are suppported by alumni, and it didn't mention anything about the government supproting these institutions. I think HBCU's are a part of American history and should be kept running. At one time, there were many HBCU's around, but some were shut down due to financial support troubles; the other reason I need to research some more. WILLIAM W. HEMMANS III Florida A&M University class of 1995 FAMU was/is a mother to me as well as those who were a mother to me while I attended there. They saved my life. Good blog. I add this, if we would have been allowed to go to white colleges in the 1st place, we would have not had HBCU's. Is racism still alive? Look at what happened in Cali. One cannot calculate what present day society with its environment does against black folk. Who has the greatest g.p.a? Me who came from foster homes, streets etc. and came to college with nothing but God and heart and worked my way through with no family or Krissy or Bobby who got it made and are mad at mommy or daddy because they bought the blue corvette but forgot the soft interior design and got the leather one...
