Win scholarship money in Dr. Maya Angelou’s essay contest!

Alltel has teamed up with Dr. Maya Angelou to give away $50,000 in scholarships to 10 lucky finalists. The Alltel Words of Wisdom essay contest asks, “In remembering the past, what would you do to contribute to a brighter future?”

Contest rules are as follows:

• Essays must be 600-800 words and must be original work.
• Contest begins January 28th and ends March 1st , 2008.
• Contestants have until midnight on March 1st to submit their essays


Ten winners will be chosen from all essays submitted to the contest.



Each winning essayist will receive a cash scholarship to a participating Historically Black College or University.

Plus, all 10 winners will be honored at an awards banquet to be held Monday, March 31, 2008 in Little Rock, Arkansas. There, Dr. Maya Angelou, will personally give the winners their scholarship prize.
