HUAA Hosts 4th Annual Read Across America Program

Posted By: Kesi Stribling on March 03, 2008 Howard University Alumni Association Hosts 4th Annual Read Across America Program on March 4, 2008, Donates Over 1,000 Books to Support National Literacy Initiative WHO: The Howard University Alumni Association (HUAA) Mwalimu Sandra Brown, HUAA President Alveta Addison, Read Across America Project Coordinator Students at the Howard University Early Learning Center WHAT: 4th Annual Read Across America Program to promote literacy HUAA is sponsoring its annual alumni book donation drive (1,000 books) to the Howard University Early Learning Program, the Howard University Hospital Child Care Center, and HD Cooke Elementary School to promote literacy, as well as donate funds to purchase educational software to reinforce student learning. Alumni clubs, including The Greater Hartford (CT), Greater Philadelphia (PA), New York City (NY), and Prince George’s County (MD) (list not inclusive) have donated books. Howard University students in the theater arts program will read to students at the Howard University Learning Center on March 4, 2008. WHY: HUAA continues to support the Read Across America Program to encourage literacy awareness among pre-school and elementary school children. WHEN: Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
