2008 JUMP START U 4 COLLEGE PROGRAM AND TOUR

Applications are now available for the 2008 Jump Start U 4 College Program and Tour. Students who will be enrolled in grades 9 – 12 during the 2008-09 school years may apply. There are 40 spaces available and applications will be accepted on a “first come-first served basis” until all spaces are filled.



The tour will occur June 8 -13th with campus visits to Grambling State University, Southern University, Xavier University and Dillard University (Louisiana) and Alabama State and Tuskegee University (Alabama). The discounted cost for the program and tour is $459.00 per youth participant. The fee includes round trip occupancy, hotel accommodations (3 nights/quad occupancy), 3 meals per day, assorted snacks, college access programming prior to the tour and chaperones (1:11 ratio).



Youth application and a $ 75 down payment are due April 19, 2008. The down-payment serves as a non-refundable deposit to hold your space and it is applied to the total cost of the program. Plan to attend the orientation meeting at Karl Road Library, 5590 Karl Road, April 19, 2008 at 10:00 AM.



“First-come-first served.”



The remaining payment schedule is as follows:

5/1 Payment 2 $100

5/15 Payment 3 $150

6/1 Balance $134 (Cash or money order only for final payment)



All checks or money orders should be made payable to: Gaddis Foundation for KIDS



Students who submit an application will also be interviewed prior to final acceptance into the program. Interviews will be held the week of April 21, 2008. All students should plan to attend the college access programming as follows:



5/17 Self-Exploration 9:00 - 11:00 or Noon - 2:00

5/24 Selecting a College & 9:00 - 11:30 or Noon - 1:30

The Admissions Process

5/31 Paying for College & 9:00 - 11:30 or Noon - 2:30

Financial Literacy

6/3 Career Exploration 10:00 - 2:00

Note: Jump Start U4 College is being offered in conjunction with the Columbus Urban League’s Achievement Matters program and tour which I am also coordinating. We will have two buses traveling together. Same great program and tour!
