Posted By: Willie Williams on June 17, 2008 First Family of Service Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity &Gamma Sigma Sigma National Service Sorority June 13, 2008 To the distinguished brother of Alpha Phi Omega, The purpose of this correspondence is to formally invite you to Atlanta, GA for a weekend of friendship and fellowship at the 15th annual 25/52 Cookout Weekend. The committee has worked diligently for the past eight months to bring you a cookout like no other. Now we are charged with the task of reaching out to as many undergraduate and alumni members as possible in an effort to reach unprecedented numbers in attendance. That is where you come in. The committee decided in the beginning of our planning process, that we would bring new and exciting ideas and events to the weekend that will spark the interest of both young and old alike. Now we just need to get you to come to our beautiful city and experience what we have planned. The following information is a breakdown of everything associated with the cookout weekend. Host Hotels Double Tree Hotel ALUMNI HOST HOTEL*****4156 Lavista Road Tucker, GA 30084 (770) 938-1026 Reservation Code: W.E.E. Weekend Events and Associated Costs Thursday (July 24, 2008) Event: 25/52 Meet and Greet Networking Event Time: 7pm – 9pm Location: Steak and Ale Sponsored by: The Service Group and Associates Price: If you are in town and plan to attend, the cost will be $5 when you enter Steak and Ale Description: The weekend will commence with a networking event. Alumni and undergrads, come with business cards in hand to network with the many professionals within the 2552 family. Come prepared to socialize, meet other family members, sip on a drink or two, and enjoy the atmosphere as we welcome you to our city. Thursday Event: Welcome to Atlanta Kickoff Party Time: 11pm – 2pm Location: 595 North Ave Description: Following our meet and greet, TSG Promotions (promotional company managed by three Kappa Delta Alumni) invites you to join us for our weekly event entitled “Flirt After Work” at 595 Event Facility and Lounge. Friday (July 25, 2008) Event: Service Scavenger Hunt Time: 10am – 3 pm Location: various locations in the Downtown Atlanta area Description: Friday’s community service event will be held at various locations within the downtown area. Patrons will take the MARTA to different locations and serve the community in a different capacity at each location. Event: Break-out meetings Time: 4pm – 6pm Location: Holiday Inn Meeting Room Description: Alpha Phi Omega and Gamma Sigma Sigma will both have the opportunity to discuss any business they deem necessary in a closed room setting. Each organization has been allocated an hour and a half (1.5 hours). The heads of each organization will guide the direction of each meeting. Event: The All White Affair Time: 9pm – 2:00am Location: Artistry, downtown Atlanta Theme: All White Party (dress code is all white) Description: This year’s annual Friday night event will be an “All White Affair”. The All White Affair will be a sexy and sophisticated event. This event is open to the public in preparation of the community event that will be held on Saturday, so invite all of your native Atlanta friends to come experience this once in a lifetime event. The musical atmosphere will be provided by the 25/52 family’s DJ Suave. Attire will be all white. Small accent colors are acceptable, but the doorman will have absolute discretion regarding admittance. Proper dress attire is a must! Gentleman, no white tees!! Please bring your all white linen set, white blazers, all white polo shirt, or white sweater vest! White sneakers are o.k. Saturday (July 26, 2008) Event: Community Day Celebration Time: 12 pm – 3 pm Location: Greenbriar Mall Description: This event will give all members of the family the opportunity to do service during the cookout weekend. We will host children and their parents from around the city and show them viable young role models who are making a difference in our community. For the children there will be a variety of activities: moonwalks, face painting, cotton candy, snow cones, and many other activities. Free food and drinks will be served with entertainment provided by DJ Kasper Event: 25/52 Cookout 2008 Time: 3pm – 7pm Location: Perkerson Park Description: The real reason everyone comes to Atlanta. It gets bigger and better every year. The food will be supplied by a local BBQ catering service. Activities will include flag football, spades, dominoes, and the annual Stroll Off featuring prizes for the winning teams. Vendors will sell the latest fashions in paraphernalia. Music will be provided by DJ Kasper of Green Eye Productions. Event: Skeet Juice Contest Time: 10pm – 11pm Location: Vikhyat Banquet Hall Description: Self-explanatory. Bring a gallon of your chapter’s juice and see who has the best. The winning chapter will receive a prize and bragging rights until next year. Event: Mardi Gras Time: 11pm – 4am Location: Vikhyat Banquet Hall Description: To end the weekend off right, we will host Mardi Gras. Drinks, juices from different chapters, DJ Suave and DJ Kasper, what more could you ask for? Bring your tightest strolls, because we are going to party ‘til 4 in the morning!! Sunday Event: Bon Voyage Brunch Time: 11am – 2pm Location: Picadilly’s Restaraunt Description: Before everyone goes their separate ways, enjoy brunch and fellowship at Picadilly’s Restaurant. Say your goodbyes and take last minute pictures before hitting the road. Event: 25/52 Invades Six Flags over Atlanta Time: 3pm – 9pm Location: Six Flags, Atlanta Description: For those who are able to stay in Atlanta through Sunday, we will be ending the weekend at Six Flags. Roller coasters, funnel cakes, turkey legs, and themed attractions. Line Item Description Total 1 All White Affair* 25 2 Community Day Celebration 5 3 Cookout 10 4 Mardi Gras* 20 5 Administration fee 10 Weekend Total $70 * Tickets purchased at the door will begin at the indicated price and increase throughout the course of the evening.
