The endorsement will provide for a 49 state fundraising campaign that will come to an end in Tampa, Florida with “Swing for the President 08™”, a fund raising golf tournament to be held in October 2008. "Within the ranks of USBGA, we believe in bringing about change within the golfing community,’ states S. E. Day, President of USBGA. ‘Sen. Obama believes in bringing about change to our great nation and its leadership from the status quo. And as a Black man, I am proud of his accomplishments to be selected to head a major, deep-rooted political party, as its candidate. Needless to say, this is something I never thought I would have seen in my lifetime. I feel comfortable in Sen. Obama’s qualities and his vision to lead this nation out of financial hardship into financial prosperity for all of its citizens.” “Swing for the President 08™” will provide for a day of exhilarating golf and activities where Sen. Obama can participate and address Floridians just prior to the general election held on November 4, 2008. The USBGA is a member-focused, chapter based association, created out of a desire to equalize the game of golf by increasing exposure and accessibility of golf for ethnic golfers of all ages. USBGA will achieve this mission by creating the USBGA Championship Tour, a development tour for ethnic golfers that mirrors the Nationwide Tour® and the Hooters Tour®, which serves as qualifiers for entry into the PGA®. This Tour includes the USBGA National Championship®, HBCU Cup™, and the Military Cup™. Individuals can become members or donate by visiting www.myusbga.com. Membership is $99.00.
