US Black Golfers Association launches national recruitment initiative

US Black Golfers Association launches national recruitment initiative
Posted By: Jon C. on July 08, 2008

The United States Black Golfers Association® (USBGA) will launch the National Chapter Program™ (NCP) to support its nationwide member recruiting efforts. The NCP will be the vehicle utilized to build and set the platform by which USBGA will grow to mirror the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA®).

"Our goal is to create a dual system that matches the PGA® under the USGA® rules and regulations by creating the USBGA Championship Tour®. And the way to achieve this is by strategically expanding a national chapter platform while aggressively recruiting chapter managers in each of the Lower 48 states, the District of Columbia, and Hawaii", stated S. E. Day, President of USBGA.

The NCP will begin on May 5, 2008 and commence in the southeastern states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina and expand to the northern states and then west. The aggressive plans are to establish a minimum of 12 chapters per state mostly centered in or near metropolitan cities.

By launching the National Chapter Program in each of the lower 48 states, the District of Columbia, and Hawaii, USBGA members will be able to compete in regional and state tournaments throughout the year. The best member-golfers will advance to compete in the USBGA National Championship®, which will be a part of the USBGA Championship Tour®. For individuals interested in starting a chapter in their area, please visit the website or call 813-508-9100.

The USBGA is a member-based association, whose members play the game of golf on a leisure, semi-professional, and professional level. The USBGA prides itself in continuing to pave the way for greater advancements and opportunities for today's minority golfers and golfers of all races and ethnicities in which to benefit. Individuals can become members by visiting www.myusbga.com. Membership is $99.00.

Honestly I don't play golf myself but I have noticed soo many black men that claim golf as their favorite part. I have been offered to go, just never went.
Equality still has a way to go and from what I have heard we have our own history with golf.
Thank you for sharing the knowlede and I wish the best in this important venture for people and hey maybe one day near we will have our own black brothers and sisters dominating golf like the Williams sisters. I hear we even have a black olympic hopeful in swimming. What can't we as a people over come if we put our minds to it, especially at younger ages.
I hope to hear about the success.
Take care
Sincerest
