Dating A Dude With A Child

Posted By: Andrea C Stallworth on May 23, 2005 Me and my boyfriend have been dating for a month. Within the time we started dating his ex girl from high school(some young broad) had his baby. I kind of figure he had some unresolve issues from his past but a child come on. He didn't tell me he got someone pregnant because he knows how I feel about dating someone wit a child....drama!!!. So he finally broke down and told me about the ex and how she had his baby at home. I was madd heated because I really like him but didn't want to deal with drama. I told him that the respect is going to have to be there for me and for her. I don't want her trying to disrespect me nor am I going to disrespect her because we don't know each other. As long as he is handles his business with his child than that's what's up. So I went home for two weeks and he calls me all upset and pissed off. I asked him what happen so he tells me that his baby's mother wants to get back with him and he needs to leave me alone. He told her that he is dating me and she gets upset and angry about that. That's understandable because she is the mother of his child but she have to realize that he is with someone else and face it. He takes care of his son but she wants him. She is so grimey because all the things my boyfriend brought the baby she gave back to him and told him never to contact her or the child again but she wants to put him on child support. This situation is crazy and I am with him because I have feelings for him and want to be supportive. But if things get out the way, I will definitely put an end to everything and call it a wrap. I don't even know what to say to that. but most young gurls are that ignorant and i feel you, support your man and stay by him. my mother always taught me that babies aren't prizes and that are not to be played with when the father is acting right and taken away when the father is acting up. hopefully, the mother will learn before the baby gets older and is affected.

I admire your maturity with this situation. I know its a hard thing to deal with because I went through something like it. Keep doing what you are doing. If things don't work out, oh well. I'm sure you can handle it either way it goes.
