West Virginia State University will hold its annual Day in the Park at Shawnee Park in Dunbar from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 27. Admittance is free.

Event organizers promise a day of fun for all. For golfers, there will be a bulls-eye shoot-out with a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize and a putting contest for men and women with a $250 cash jackpot. Football fans can compete in the NCAA '09 on the X Box 360 where the winner gets $200.

Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the afternoon with the opportunity to win the grand prize of a 46" flat screen television, other flat screen TVs, and a variety of gift certificates for area businesses. Drawings will be held every 30 minutes. Participants do not need to be present to win.

For the kids there will be inflatables and a bicycle rodeo with WVSU chief of public safety, Joe Saunders. The pool will be open and food vendors will be on hand.

The event is co-sponsored by Wal-Mart, the WV Human Rights Commission and the Yeager Media Group. For information call 766-3388 of 720-5058.
