Is Tyler Perry Selling out his Christianity?

Posted By: Theresa McMiller on July 28, 2008 I don't know if any of you heard the news about Tyler's vacation with Oprah on July 9th. I had to hear it from my grandmother visiting her. At first, I thought, "They're just friends. There's nothing going on. Tyler feels comfortable being with Oprah because, she doesn't pose a threat to him or his millions. But, a couple days later, I also found out that he's suing his cousin over a business transaction between them. His cousin wants to be compensated for his services but, Tyler is not giving him one red cent. To me, these are signs that Tyler is traveling on a different road than he orginally set out on. I mean, why does he feel a need to make more movies, make more money and make friends with the rich and famous? Why does he push people so hard to watch his TV show, The House of Payne? Hollywood don't like him and don't like his "Chitlin district, stereotypical movies. So, he's signed a three year contract to Lionsgate. Why is he compromising God's Word for profit? Oprah is not the most spiritual person in the world. She's got a Titantic shipload of problems that she can't deal with herself. I've noticed how agitated Tyler seemed at the Essence Music Festival. With all of his millions, he's miserable and unstable. Maybe, Tyler Perry isn't the Christian that he is proclaiming? Holla back, y'all. Well, we have to consider the fact that Tyler is an entertainer not a Preacher. I don't know his full story , but I haven't heard of him professing or promoting Tyler Perry Ministries. Correct me if I'm wrong. Comedian Stevie Mack Monday, July 28th 2008 at 6:09PM |

Hey, Stevie, Thanks for the comment. When Tyler Perry started to write plays, he puts his Christian faith in the forefront. So, naturally, people like myself expect him to live his life at a higher and spiritual standard. He's giving spiritual advice to millions of people on his website. www.tylerperry.net He may not be an ordained preacher but, if he's going to live like a Christian, he should walk the walk and talk the talk and leave the millions and riches and the rich friends out of his proclaimed Christian life. Tyler can't have two masters. He can't serve God and love making money. Lastly, Jesus himself didn't minister to the rich, he lived among the poor and went from town to town, being homeless. As poor as he was, Jesus never compromised His Mission on earth to get riches. He was interested in saving the sinners and helping the poor find their way back to God.
