Can a person with former ties to White Supremacists be a spokesperson for children of color

Can a person with former ties to White Supremacists be a spokesperson for children of color
Posted By: Marquerite Burgess on August 01, 2008

Below is a copy of an article that was on Foxnews.com. Granted, I usually don't watch or read anything from them, because in my opinion it is always slanted in nature of it's context.

This article really caught my eye. I want to know the opinions of the people in this forum.

Where are our leaders? What are they doing? How did this happen to be int eh first place. Only in America can somthing like this happen.

Where is the media on this story?

Woman With Ties to White Supremacists Represents School for Blacks and Hispanics
Wednesday, July 30, 2008

By Lomin Saayman

A Florida woman who has been married to both the former head of the Ku Klux Klan and the creator of a notorious white supremacist Web site is working as a spokeswoman for a school that aims to lift underprivileged black and Hispanic children out of poverty.

An executive with an organization that tracks hate groups calls the employment of the woman, Chloe Black, an "untenable position" and "unbelievable."

Black, the ex-wife of former KKK leader David Duke, is now married to Don Black, the creator of the white-power hate site Stormfront. Chloe Black is currently employed as an executive assistant at Florida Crystals, a sugar conglomerate whose owners, the Fanjul brothers, have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to help build a new campus for Glades Academy.

Glades is a charter school for the children of African-American and migrant workers in Pahokee, a rural town in Palm Beach County. Billionaire Jose "Pepe" Fanjul's wife, Emilia, is chairman of the board of Glades Academy, and she hired Black to help promote the school.

Reports suggest that Black's salary from the school may be going to support her husband's activities on the hate site, as Don Black has had no clear source of income for some time.

Don Black, in an online appeal for contributions to his hate site, wrote that he does not receive a salary from the site. "Stormfront is an online community of White activists," he wrote. "It's not a business, no one receives a salary, and our work is supported by voluntary contributions."

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, an Alabama-based non-profit organization that tracks hate groups, Don Black has not had a regular job for “years and years,” though the SPLC could not prove that Chloe Black’s salary from Florida Crystals was going to support Stormfront.

When contacted by FOXNews.com, Chloe Black refused to discuss the allegations or her role in Glades Academy.

She told the New York Post earlier this month that she hasn’t been involved with the white supremacy movement “in 30 years.”

But the SPLC, which has followed the Blacks as principal leaders of the white supremacist movement for decades, said that is not true.

Mark Potok, the SPLC’s intelligence project director, said Black in June attended a key conference of the Council of Conservative Citizens, a group that says on its Web site that it opposes “all efforts to mix the races of mankind” and once described black people as “a retrograde species of humanity.”

“The SPLC’s role is not to make demands of the Fanjuls. But they have put as a front woman on this very worthy philanthropic project a woman who represents everything that is antithetical to this project. This is an untenable position. She is not merely a woman who married white supremacist leaders; she has actively participated in white supremacist functions,” Potok said.

Potok said he found Black’s involvement with Glades Academy “unbelievable.”

There is no indication that the Fanjuls or Florida Crystals were aware of Chloe Black’s right-wing sympathies when she was appointed to speak on behalf of Glades Academy.

Gaston Cantens, Florida Crystals' vice president of corporate relations, did not respond to repeated requests by FOXNews.com for comment but has been quoted as saying that the company does not “comment on the private lives of our employees.”

But a cursory look at Black's resume would have revealed her connections to the Knights of the KKK and the National Party.

In 1972 the then Chloe Hardin married David Duke, former Grand Wizard of the Knights of the KKK who is described as a neo-Nazi by his critics. They divorced in 1984 but are reportedly still friendly and speak regularly. Black is the mother of Duke’s two daughters.

Four years later she married Don Black, Duke’s best friend and an ex-Klansman himself. Black is the founder and webmaster of Stormfront, the premier online location for white supremacists in the U.S. and Europe.

“Don Black and David Duke are not lightweight nationalists,” Potok said. “They are rabid white separatists. Duke is better described as a neo-Nazi more than anything else.”

The Black family residence in West Palm Beach has been registered in Chloe Black’s name since the year she separated from Duke.

According to the SPLC, 32 percent of Pahokee residents live in poverty. The Glades Academy project aims not only to educate the children in the area, but encourage graduates to give back to the community.

Sounds to me that Mrs. Black, has different views on her former and ex husband. She wants to make a difference, and this is the first step to making the difference. So, my answer is yes. I think that a White supremacists can be a spokeperson for children of all color.

I think that if you marry one white supremacist and divorce to marry still another, there is no difference in views from husband and wife Jessica.

I don't even know where to start. Do black America forgive Ms. Black for her past involvement with such a group with a notorious history of terrorizing black people. Do we turn the other cheek? Can we take her at her word, that she hasn't been active in this terrorist group for 3 decades? Let me stop it!

What is this philanthropist thinking about hiring this women. The Fanjul brothers did not do their research. You mean to tell me that there are no qualified people in Flordia that could not do this job, without the baggage of this KKK member.

Futhermore, Ms. Black can say all she wants about not being active, but the sticking point for me is that her husband is. There is no way you can be married to a person like this and not share these HARDCORE views. What is Ms. Black's ploy? Is she trying to worsen the situation there? Ms. Black could very well be collecting data on these children, to publish more absurb literature on the differences on the learning capabilities of black & latino children, compare to white children (Bell Curve on Steriods). With a hugh slant, of course.

I have to go back to this, what were the Fanjul brothers thinking about? They could have held a nation search. I am pretty sure Flordia has more than its share of qualified people right there in its backyard. I will revisit this once I take a break. I'm overload right now, I can't believe it. This is America so I shouldn't be shock or outraged. We have many white supremacist working in many faucets of this country. They just don't wear the white sheets anymore, unless its ceremonial or a protest.

The wife and husband has different views. She is trying or being a spokesperson for the children of color. Their views for colors might be different. The wife might be trying to make a difference in bring both races together.

After doing some of my own research on Mrs. Black, I have to say that it is no way in the world this woman could be a spokeswoman or anything for these children of color. Her position has nothing to do with doing what it right or for the uplifting of the underpriviledged, it has more to do with tht almighty dollar dollar bill.

Jessica, I am not trying to offend you, but spare me. This woman was married to David Duke for 12 yrs, not seconds minutes or months, but years attended her fair share of the meetings of the KKK and knew full well who and what she was apart of.

Then after divorcing the person, she marries another man with the same ideology and views and is still married to him, unless I missed where they got divorced. Sorry Jessica, she is quite away of what she is doing.

Kenneth you are dead on with the fact that just because white sheets are not worn so blatantly as before, now they are in the boardrooms and other places wearing suits and ties.

It is even far more dismal to know that the person responsible for hiring this woman did not even check her resume and if she had , she would have known what was going on with this woman or did she already know and because she is receiving flack about it, making that statement is just an excuse to justify her hiring practices.

Amazingly enough is the fact that a person of color their resume would have been picked apart in more ways than one, but this goes unchecked.

This is a window into the hiring practices of not just this company but so many others. How many times have you called somewhere or went to a business for service and found yourself asking, "who in the world hired this person" or "they must be related to someone in this company because the level of incompetence is unexcusable".

I think a deeper investigation into the business practices are warranted, let's see what happens.

The media (major outlets) rather discuss Luda's latest rap video and Hillary's feelings, rather then bring major attention to this saga. While our children are being taken advantage of educationally. Which will cause more harm because they will be indoctrinated with the twisted idealogy of this (ex?)-KKK member. Ms. Black will be bring all of her preconcieved notions, stereotypes, perspectives and hate to this building. Willie Lynch 101 will be the prerequisite for these black and latino children. Fear will be the education framework at this school. I hope I'm wrong. Who cares, it's ONLY black & latino children, right? Nobody will notice, except Marquerite!

The leaders are focus on Hillary getting the VP spot, the leaders are focus on Obama's answers to McCain's criticisms about being a rock star like Britiany & Paris, the leaders are focus on Obama's trip to Germany; all the while I children are being exploited by the likes of Ms. Black's terrorist ideals. How can no black (or white) leader in town, county and district not pick up on this? This should have sent up red flags.

Irma no disrespect intened, but this is not about Luda, Obama, Mc Cain or Hillary. This is about our future leaders and the shaping of their minds and growth as indivduals. You see when we are born we are already somebody, they don't need to grow up to be somebody. This is about them growing up to be somebody that will be remembered as having a major positive contribution to ourcommunity and society has a whole.

In my opinion this woman does not possess the skills nor the ideology to do that.

So as we discuss this issue and for those that have become aware of this situation. Does anyone intend on informing our so called leaders of what is important to us.

Please just to see the number of comments on this very important issue considering the number of hits to the blog speaks for itself and folks want to say what they are tired of.

These are children of our community we are talking about. The same children that the penal system determine how many jail cells they will need to build based on how these children perform in the 3rd grade.

Wake up people!!

In understanding the plight of African people across the globe, do we think that they would allow any outspoken, thoughtprovoking, forward thinking African leader(Rev. Wright) to be in charge of any organization that is for white children? Alot of the smokescreen that is given to us through the media is done to keep our eyes off the real picture; however this article is right on point, when you marry someone there is a fundamental aligning of beliefs and sharing the same goals...Who would marry anyone that does not believe or have the same direction about their marraige? A marraige that is built on hate...now that is a good start to a union made to attack and spread the archaic beliefs of white hate groups...

Thank you for your comment Carlton. You can best believe if it was Rev. Wright the media would have been all over it like a cheap suit after a rainy day.

I ask/challenge anyone who has read this blog to ask themselves have they ever "dared" to ask this same question of/about Hillary Clinton? And, if not the reason is once again no education about Mrs. H. Cinton that is from the real world out side of some form of media pros/cons. Am I correct?
