Somebody Else's Man

Posted By: MONICA CHAMILLE WILLIAMS on June 01, 2005 I have a friend that has been messing with this guy. He's tall, fine as daylight and works. He's real nice and all, but the thing is when they first hooked up he had a girlfriend. And she knew about it. In the beginning she felt bad about the whole situation and asked me what I thought she should do. I told her what I thought about it but for her to do whatever her heart tells her. Well, her heart told her to continue sleeping with him and she did until the guy's girlfriend broke up with him for reasons unrelated to my friend. Even though he tried for about a month to get back with his ex, now the guy is telling my friend that he is over 'his girl' and that he only wants to be with her. My thing is if he is over his ex, then why does he still call her 'his girl'. I told her to watch that because he says all the right things to her. I asked her if she thinks he says what he knows she wants to hear and she got mad at me. I was just trying to make sure that I don't have to cut this fool for hurting my friend. Anyway, she was mad at me but she asked him if he really means everything he says to her or does he say what he thinks she wants to hear. And again, he said all the right stuff. This sounds kinda like an "I wanna have my cake and eat it too" deal. It can be kinda a sticky situation for your friend because he cheated on the other young lady with her even with all his "feelings" for your friend. Now, that's not to apply a label that says once a cheater always a cheater, but the issue really comes in because he's still trying to get his ex back. Trust, if he's with one girl and openly pursing his ex.....the situation will end all bad with many screams, tears, and broken hearts (because he's looking to move on already). But if she's putting up with this stuff, it makes things worse because one can grow accustomed to that type of treatment (both the man and woman) and it's difficult to get them out of that mindset. I'd say just try to let her know what the deal is and stick by her.......but I don't know the folks involved so this is of course pure speculation. Good luck to you and your friend.
