Has Anybody Been Watching The Olympics?

Has Anybody Been Watching The Olympics?
Posted By: WILLIAM W. HEMMANS III on August 12, 2008

I love sports and since I'm waiting for the upcoming football season, i.e. FAMU Rattlers, Miami Hurricanes and Miami Dolphins, I have been caught up to catch what I can. I've been watching some sports I don't normally watch, like the Mens Soccer team that should have won and would have made semi finals for the second time ever. They came from behind 1-0 to go up 2-1 and on the last kick of the game the score got tied. The Men and Women Basketball teams have been handeling business (did anyone see the underhand pass and dunk the U.S. did the other night!?), I got caught up and then my Wife when the U.S. Men Swimming team came from behind to beat the French team that boasted they came to the games whip the U.S.! I could not get into Equestrian, saw some fencing, could not get into water polo, the U.S.

Men and Women are winning unexpected medals in Gymnastics. Oh and I was impressed with the 41 year age female swimmer that had a baby and has been winning swim meets and I saw a the woman gymnist at age 33 competing for a mdeal and a 106 pound power lifter whose son has leukemia (She is supporting herself and child with winnings, she put up 276 lbs overhead).
I think the U.S. Men lost 1 Volleyball game lost a game and the U.S. Women Volleyball team lost.
The U.S. Men are playing down to the level of Angola, game is on right now.
My favorite part will be the Track and Field since I like watching track, mainly the speed races.
Anyone been watching and care to add what caught their eye or excited them?
Oh and I did not know the Jamaican teams winnings goes to the Government to support Jamaican sports (Respectfully), how do they have any pocket money???

Hey Candice, I've been on the edge of my seat. Phelps keeps winning medals and the best part is Track and Field has not started yet.
The U.S. men were given 0 chance with recent loses of key performers.

Hi Tressia, thank you for the blog comment on your Olympic viewing.
I did not see the Opening Ceremony, but I have heard people talking about it. Have you heard about the scandal with the little girl whose voice was used but another girl photo was used. They said China has been deleting peoples comments in China that spoke out about this on the internet. They said those responsible did not feel that the girl used to sing was cute enough and was to "Buck Toothed", which is sad.
Still the Opening Cermony has been stated to be the best ever.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for the blog comments.
I honestly crashed out the other night. Working all day, then watching Olympics all night. On my cell I have sports (MVP), so I signed up for Olympic alerts to keep up with what is going on.
True other countries are tough on their athletes. I was watching a documentary on Sadam Hussein and they stated athletes were beaten and tortured...
I was serious in asking the question about the Jamaican Government. It was just concern. I know there are people here of Jamaican descent.
I know expenses may be covered, but the life of a athlete is short and I was wondering what do they do when career is over.
I was watching the Jamaican women volleyball team when that was commented on.
