The First Step To Your Breakthrough!

The First Step To Your Breakthrough!
Posted By: Dr. Carolyn Clansy Miller on August 18, 2008

The Olympics are a wonderful source of inspiration. As we watch the greatest athletes perform on the world-stage, we learn of their trek from the inception to the realization of their dreams. Many have traveled very difficult roads---roads laced with poverty, oppression, sickness and disease. Others have had to combat the challenges of their minds--resolving that they will make it even though the odds were against them. All of them--whether they medal or not--had to take the first step to a breakthrough. Believe!

Despite countless falls, innumerable misses, previous failures, incredible injuries, lack of resources, or coaches and team members who walked out on them, they still believed. It seems trite to say, "you've gotta believe," but it's so necessary for your success. You don't get to the Olympics without believing you can.

Some of you may not aspire to be great athletes, but you do aspire to reach new levels on your job or in your work, to earn more than you can dream of, to experience a peaceful life, to restore your relationships, to build a successful business or to reach more people in ministry than you ever thought possible.

Your dreams are just as possible as Lopez Lamong's (The Lost Boy of Sudan) who carried the American flag in the Olympics. Like Lamong, you've got to believe for a better life, despite any obstacle or situation that makes your dream unlikely.

The Bible says, "All things are possible to him that believes." It also says, "With God, nothing shall be impossible." Romans Chapter 4 highlights the importance of belief as the passage reflects on Abraham's unwavering faith that he would one day seed a child even thought his wife, Sarah, was well beyond child-bearing years. The Scripture says that it was his faith or his belief that pleased God who caused him to inherit the promises made to him.

The good news is that the scripture says, that all who believe like Abraham believed (Abraham believed even when his circumstances said otherwise), will also inherit the promise--the promise that as you obey Him, God will bless you to be a blessing, He will bless your ideas, He will bless the work of your hands and He will bless the fruit of your ground. He will cause you to succeed above and beyond what you could ask think or imagine.

The promise of your breakthrough is all yours --if you will dare to take the first step--BELIEVE!

I love your discussion and as your comments suggest: I am not an Olympian, but I strive to be an Olympian of the mind. For me, it's about trying to reach new levels of awareness.

Amen! When I reflect on how God delivered me from a life that kept me in every dismal category including poverty, domestic violence, and a mental illness, I know the power of believing and faith.

After my nervous breakdown, believing I could live a restored life was one of the major motivations to beat those odds. When we believe, God does the rest. There is a gold medal in all of us and when we believe it, we can achieve it! Stay blessed ...

Thanks for those truly inspiring words. Sometimes we get discourage in the race of life as everyone seems to be passing us by. We forget that the bible told us that the race is not for the swift but for those who endure to the end. Keep strong my sister.
