Getting older and still learning, damn it!!

Posted By: Maceo Wylie on June 06, 2005 Some say that getting older still continuing to learn about yourself is good-until they get oldrer. It can be good and a bit scary. When I got married 34 years ago, I didn't see the things I do now back then. Where I work and what I do, I have the opportunity to see marrage first hand and how much it means at many periods of stress, life or death situations. I am happy to have lived this long when I can remember burning the/my candle at both ends. A person can burn twice as bright but only half as long. Each day I realize my mortality and how quickly my life could end due to disease, accidents, genetics or God saying "time to come." I remember when I was 20 and not seeing the possibility of ever being fifty or older-I'll soon be fifty-seven this month. For those who may read this, enjoy your youth, stay in school as long as you can (at least Masters degree). If you decide to marry, don't trust your eyes. Use your brain and heart.
