I'm a self-published author, and it can be expensive if you are not one to ask questions about what your needs are. Remembering too that self-published authors have to work at selling and advertising their works most of time on their own. Be aware that when you self publish, you'll be responsible for making your book known. Sometimes, the publishing companies offer packages to sell your book at alarming rates, particular with advertising. My advice is to check around locally for a lower cost rate. However, I am encouraging anyone who wants to publish to do so. Choose carefully, ask questions and be willing to work toward selling your new work of writing.
