Will We Survive Another Four Years?
|
Posted By: Karen Hunter on September 22, 2008 While much of America is deciding that Barack Obama is, well, too black to represent this country as president, the rest of the world is moving in for a take out. America, the good old US of A, is perhaps the most vulnerable she’s been since her inception. And instead of bringing it together, what are we doing? Showing the world just how divided we are. According to a poll, conducted with Stanford University, one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views of blacks, calling them lazy and violent and responsible for their own troubles. I wonder what the white Republicans think? And as a result, Barack Obama may not be elected. I’m going to go out on a limb here to let white folks know that if they let their racism (and they can talk themselves out of being bigots all they want, but if you think blacks are lazy and violent, you’re a racist and a bigot and just plain dumb), could bring down this entire nation. It’s sort of like some of white America is saying that they would rather see the house burned down than hand it over a black man. That there is even a white America or a black America, for that matter, tells us that we have a fundamental problem that if we don’t wake up soon, may have us all speaking Russian and wearing red. Here’s what happened yesterday while you were worrying about a black man sleeping in the White House: The Russian military deployed a navy squadron to Venezuela. And Russia has been in steady talks with not just Venezuela but also Cuba and other Latin American nations. And oh yeah, it’s not just a bunch of ships that will span 15,000 nautical miles just off our shores. They are armed with nuclear weapons. If anyone is old enough to remember the Cuban Missile Crisis, perhaps you can spread the word and let your neighbors, family and friends know that history does repeat itself—sometimes with an even more deadly result. Question: Do you think John McCain can quell this mess? A mess created by his party, which has done nothing but create an even more adversarial relationship with our brothers in Cuba and throughout Latin America? Or would they respond better to someone who looks a little like them and can speak to them a little differently than the folks of the last eight years? I’m just asking. Because the future of our country depends on people making sound decisions not based on flimsy prejudices and fears, but based on some sensible reasoning about who can negotiate and lead us back to greatness. If Barack does not win the White House or come very very close, it will be proof positive that racism still continues to exist in this country and that black achievement means nothing to racist whites and that the whites are indeed willing to watch the house burn down rather than want a change. These people have already proved they will vote a white C-student as president to run it. Why should they change now?

Karen I applaude your tenacity and for the most part I agree with you. Hiowever, it is hightime that we address the glaring absence of this nations African-American leaders...Where's Bill Cosby? Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Jesse...(well that's another story), Charles Rangle, Maxine Waters, Andrew Young...(okay I give up..was'nt it Andrew that said that, " Bill Clinton is "Blacker" than Barack because he had slept with more Black Women"...we are in trouble. Where's Russell Simmons and P.Diddy? Conspicuously absent is the profound impact of African-Americans, those who have so-called "made it". Bob Johnson...(shame on him), He attempted to allude the fact to all America that Barack is sort of...well you know the story. My point is that we must send a strong message to our own that we won't tolerate the sell outs'. Let's BOYCOTT AIR JORDANS / MAGIC JOHNSON THEATRES etc. BOYCOTT THOSE WHO BOYCOTT US. THIS IS A DEFINING MOMENT FOR THE FUTURE OF ALL AFRICAN-AMERICANS. LET US NOT FORSAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF OUR OWN BY BEING TO CONCERNED ABOUT OTHERS. WE MUST DEMONSTRATE A COMLLETE UNITED FRONT WITH OUT CAMPAIGN DONATIONS AND OUR VOTE. THIS IS THE MOMENT - THIS IS THE TIME - RIGHT NOW! Stay Strong and Be Blessed, -Anthony... FINALLY...A REAL SISTER! ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE! Thanks Karen, for clarifying Cosby for me. However, it concerns me that our people are so easily misled. Let us use this wonderful tool,(the internet) to Inform and Inspire. This gift has leveled the playing field if used correctly. We must be vigilant and without pause in OUR effort to put the word out concerning the pertinent issues that will serve to UPLIFT OUR PEOPLE. I am in the Deep South, just a few miles from where the Dogs and the Hoses were used in an effort to undermine and intimidate a People from their rightful place in America. I am a PROUD BLACK MAN. I am PROUD OF YOU AND YOUR POSITION AS A BLACK WOMAN. Let us begin to be very mindful of the power that we give to racism...Racism thrives when we allow it to. We as a people become paralyzed when the word ***** is used by others, yet we calll each other *****s all day long, My *****, Yo' *****, Hey *****, What's up *****?...go figure. It's just a word. Really. We must stop allowing others to push our buttons that cause us to take our eyes off the preverbial 'Ball" as we have shown the propensity to do so, SO many times in our history. ECONOMIC FREEDOM FOR ALL. That is why all others (immigtrants) come to this country, and believe it or not, that is why we are here also. (we are also immigrants)...wrap your head around that. To acheive that freedom Boycotts may be necessary to again reveal to our own people the unleashed financial power that we truly posesss...others know...others know also that we don't. Stop buying Nikes "Air Jordans" for (90 -120 days), a full fiscal financial quarter and watch the fallout from Wall Street to Main Street. I am inspired by a new call to action. IF IT'S NOT FAIR - DO NOT ENDORSE IT WITH YOUR MONEY. BOYCOTTS...WHAT A POWER MOVE! Gotta' go...but I'll be back. Are you feeling me? Much Love, -Anthony... Tuesday, October 7th 2008 at 12:51PM |

P.S. As you probably can tell I'm in a hurry. All Black Men should be. We've wasted enough time with foolishness for the last 20years. I promise my next sit down to present a more comprehensive body of work to share with you. Thanks for your presence on the Web. -Anthony... Tuesday, October 7th 2008 at 12:55PM |
