Choosing The Right Cangidate...Some Thoughts of Mine.....

Choosing The Right Cangidate...Some Thoughts of Mine.....
Posted By: Jessica Angelique on September 28, 2008

Well, It's hard to believe that another presidential election is approaching. The candidates, we have two, are pulling out all the stops trying to ensure that you vote them into office. It's been said that if you want to start a fight, start out a conversation with either one of two topics; religion or politics.

I don't want to start a fight as much as I want to start your thought process. No, I AM NOT telling you who to vote for and nothing in this blog will even hint at who I am going to vote for. I do want you to think about your current situation. Have things gotten harder, or progressively better over the last few years. If you're good, financially, then you will want things to continue and not change for any reason.

If not, then you may be looking for huge changes. Both candidates say that they are for change. I, personally, don't listen to the TV and radio ads of either candidate or any candidate when it comes to who I vote for. I actually log on and pull up THEIR voting record. Why? How they voted and how often they showed up in congress tells me how serious they are about the job and what REALLY matters most to them.

I look at the issues that they voted on in their voting record and I do watch the debates only. It gives me a good comparison as to what they ACTUALLY did in the past (their voting record) and what they are proposing to do in the future; what they PLAN on doing. If their is a huge gap in consistency then that tells me that someone, or something has altered their way of thinking. The question I have to then ask and answer for myself is, CAN I LIVE WITH THEIR CHANGES AND WILL THOSE CHANGES BENEFIT MY FAMILY?

The congressional voting records go all the way back to 1948. They are a public access database and you can see the voting records of both candidates side by side. LOOK at the issues that concern YOU the most and see how each one voted. KEEP a list or print it out and compare the records of both side by side. LOOK at how often either one showed up. LOOK at how they voted on the issues that are KEY and NON-NEGOTIABLE when it comes to you and your family.

Then, take that info and compare it to what you saw of the debate on television last night.

Don't listen to the hype, rumors, and innuendos. Just do your homework and then decide what and who is best for you and your family. If you take out all the buzzing and gossip and crap and tone down all the whispers and screams of everyone else telling you who'd you'd BETTER vote for "or else", then you can and will make the decision that is right for you. You don't have to tell anyone who you voted for nor are you required to paint your house and car with the face of your candidate.

This is an important election in many ways so take the time and please DO the research. Saying things like "I didn't know he voted "NO" on that issue, I just assumed that because he was a republican/democrat that they would do what I wanted", is no longer a valid excuse. To get in the know, spend an hour or two doing YOUR homework. This man, whoever he is, will be making the decisions for you and your family for the next four years. It is absolutely worth an hour or two of your time to "check them both out" and decide, before you walk into your polling place, just who to vote for; without someone screaming and spitting in your face that you had better vote for so and so.

To access the individual voting records of each candidate you can log on to the US Senate's website at http://www.senate.gov/index.htm This is the United States Senate website and is an all access pass to the information about the issues that concern you and your family the most.

Once there, click on the link at the top of the page titled "Legislation & Records". About mid-way down the page is the title heading "Congressional Record". The Congressional record is published daily when either house of Congress meets. It is a published account of Congressional debates and activities, including votes, legislation, and committee meeting announcements. If you are voting on your candidate based on THEIR voting record then access that log and read until your eyes hurt. It is a CLEAR, factual record of where both candidates stand on the issues that they ACTUALLY voted on.

As always, this is news you and your family can use. I wish you much success and I will see you all next week.
