Posted By: Adrienne Fleming on June 18, 2005 Another blog..well its 10:25 pm on a Saturday night.. i know! what am i doing at home..well what i am doing right now is thinking..if i even have true friends.. i know most of u have ya moments where u think about this 2... and it was so funny to see one of the members of HBCUConnect have a blog about true friends..so yeah i had to read it..it was the definition of a true friend! it actually hit me hard.. i have 2"best friends" that graduated with me and one "bestfriend" that graduated from another skool..everybody,my mom..dad.. associates, even my boyfriend, etc swear the 2 girls who graduated with me arent my true friends.. at times its questionable.ya know but what to do..we r all going our seperate ways..well i am..since im going to a college out of state!i know this is one long ass blog..but i just thought i add to my loneliness on a saturday night and type in a new blog..lol If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |

I have been through the same thing. I had to ? myself about my so called best friends. If you can't tell them something without them judging you, if you can't count on them to always have your back, and if y'all haven't gone through a few arguments and fights and actually came out still as close of friends as b4 if not closer that is not a best friend that is an associate.

dont get me wrong when i say this but i think u think about your friends too much when u really should be thinking about being independent and out on your own. u really cant meet anybody new when u wait on your friends to think of something to do. now i dont know how your high school years went with them but if sounds about right then i say dont let this staying at home on a saturday night happen again. u mite ask y im at home but i still have one more year of high school so i have limited mobility on the weekends. so bottom line all im saying is enjoy yourself by yourself and no one else. no one else is going to be next to u when u get married, go on a honeymoon, or when u have kids. BE INDEPENDENT!

I know a lot of people respond to blogs and say "oh i know how you're feeling," but I can honestly say I truly do know how much it hurts to have to question your friendships. I had 4 really close friends that i've been coo with for the past 7 years. We've been through damn near everything together, divorces, family deaths and so on. But anywayz I got into with one of my friends and we stop talking, once we stopped talking the rest of them stopped talking to me. So the beginning of my senior year was kind of bad, but I finally realized that at least i found out that they were phony before i left for college. And as I head away from the Bean and towards VA I know who my true friends are. Basically don't let it stress you or ruin your summer. Continue with what you're doing and if they aren't your real friends their tru colors will eventually come out. Good Luck with everything!
