The 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc., will host its 6th Annual College Scholarship Fair on Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at The Forum, the newly opened event venue at the University of Illinois Chicago, at Roosevelt and Halsted.

Up to 6,000 students are expected to attend the event and meet with the more than 150 colleges and universities exhibiting. College admissions will be granted on site and this year’s goal is to award over 1,500 scholarships. Past 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc., College Scholarship Fairs achieved stunning success with the awarding of over $10 million in educational funding.

Students are expected to attend from over 155 high schools across the Chicagoland area and five surrounding Midwest states. The fair is open to all high school juniors and seniors. Students must come to the College Scholarship Fair with their high school transcripts, college entrance examination scores (ACT and/or SAT), letters of recommendation, personal essays, and resumes in order to be accepted for admission and scholarships. Students’ parents, teachers, and other stakeholders in their lives are also invited.

is comprised of a dynamic, diverse and dedicated group of men who share a common desire to improve the chances of success for young African American males and females,” said Jeffery L. Jackson, President of the 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc. “The College Scholarship Fair is an excellent vehicle and important event that will link participating colleges and universities with the best and brightest high school students in the Midwest who are looking to continue their education.” he added.

The mission of the 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc., is to improve the quality of life and enhance educational opportunities for young people throughout the Chicagoland area. The 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc., does this by mentoring at-risk youth.

Founded in 1994, the 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc., has helped young African American youth gain a competitive edge through its Four for the Future community outreach initiative. The four components are Mentoring, Education, Health and Wellness, and Economic Development.
