Plans and performs a variety of machine operations utilizing numerical control machining centers to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications by performing the following duties. Onsite in Santa Ana, 5:00am - 1:30pm, $26/hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Interpret complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions, and process sheets to determine work to be done.
• Performs a variety of milling, drilling, boring, or related operations to close and interrelated tolerances.
• Review setup sheet and specifications to determine machining sequence and dimensions of finished workpiece.
• Selects and installs cutting tools in machine spindle or magazine.
• Load control media, such as disk, tape, or punch card, in machine control console or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions form database.
• Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
• Observe and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
• Perform a variety of inspection and gauging operations to insure maintenance of quality standards and specifications.
• Measure workpieces for conformance to specifications.
• Utilizes override control to correct conditions that are out of tolerance or operating unusually.
• Adjusts machine feed and speed and changes cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
• Machines materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber.
• Cleans machine, tooling, and parts.

Education and/or Experience

• Pays attention to detail, thoroughness, functional skills, and verbal communication.
• Other experiences in sheet metal fabrication a plus.
• High School Education.

Language Skills

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common instructions.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Mathematical Skills

• Basic math
• Ability to read blueprints; ability to use calipers and/or other measuring tools.
