Job Description
Provides technical and process engineering services and guidance to the Technical/Manufacturing departments in support of projects including development and commercialization of new products.
Responsibilities:
Support Environmental Health & Safety for the facility, following all current policies and procedures
Coordinate project orders with Production Planning to best fit production schedule with minimal impact to customer orders
Provide technical guidance to maintenance operations to make improvements and resolve issues based on process knowledge
Leads change for troubleshooting production and process problems; communicates with manufacturing, quality, and technical people regarding run problems; investigates root causes and recommends and helps implement corrective actions.
Reviews data and trial reports from technical for products being developed and reports concerns and results to the appropriate department managers.
Production Trial owner, following and coordination of production trials providing accurate and detailed feedback to Trial owners Manufacturing, Technical Manager and Marketing.
Analyze trial quality, output and waste data to determine trial effectiveness / specification commercialization.
Monitors and improves product quality. Resolves quality issues and dispositions quarantined product. Researches assignable causes of customer complaints and works closely with customers to resolve and prevent quality issues. Regularly visits customers and coordinates operator visits to customers.
Writes, performs, analyzes, and reports on trails, scale-ups, and validations for the manufacturing processes. Makes recommendations based on trials
Generate and gather ideas for product enhancements, cost savings, and new products from all sources (sales, vendors, customers, R&D, manufacturing, journals, and others); able to effectively communicate/interact with Sales, Marketing, and the Customer
Provide suggestions for product enhancements to R&D engineers to improve manufacturing results based on process experience
Operate as a "go-to" for other Engineers, operations, and maintenance for solutions to process or quality issues
Assess current processes to look for areas of improvement in processes (including procedures, conditions, and equipment), and make those recommendations to management
Target/resolve repetitive customer claim issues by working with customers and manufacturing
Lead continuous improvement teams to deliver process and business improvements. Responsible for identifying and resolves issues that impact data aspects through root cause analysis and corrective action management as it relates to specification impacts to all operation resources & departments
Develop and Commercialize New and Improved Products
Develop specifications for new products and update existing specifications.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in an Engineering field or relevant work experience
7+ years experience in an engineering or process role
Training and experience in Lean manufacturing methodologies
Solid computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook, Share Point, and the ability to quickly learn software needed to perform job specific duties.
Trade journals, trade shows, technical seminars, management seminars, equipment supplier contacts and raw material contacts.
Professional development classes in the areas of communication, conflict resolution, problem solving skills, statistical process control, advanced uses of software packages, world class manufacturing principles, quality systems, and other related fields.
