Pharmacist - Retail Overview The Curtis Rx Pharmacist works collaboratively with technicians and the manager to accurately fill orders, maintain security of the pharmacy and controlled substances, enter orders and patient information with accuracy, train staff, and provide updates to the manager about the daily activities of the pharmacy. The Curtis Rx Pharmacist provides patient assessments, education, care planning, and therapeutic monitoring for patients. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS Registered Pharmacist License Illinois upon hire. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One (1) Year Healthcare/Outpatient pharmacy experience preferred SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of patient counseling, drug therapy, and drug-drug interactions. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with other staff members. Ability to handle multiple tasks, and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to patient concerns. Responsibilities Maintains pharmacy records in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Supervises, coordinates and/or participates in the preparation, labeling, dispensing, and delivery of all pharmaceutical and related supplies and equipment in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and standards of practice. Provides consultation and answers inquiries from patients, families, physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding drugs and their use. Prepares and dispenses prescriptions to patients (or directly supervises qualified pharmacy technician). Verifies prescriptions and computer orders prepared by technicians before they are dispensed to the patient. Corrects all orders which are entered in error or may be misunderstood. Orders medications when stock is low or as needed. Keeps leadership informed of abnormal use of items. Loans and borrows medications per policy. Assists in training of new staff. Supervises all technician activity within the pharmacy. Performs billing functions to third party insurances and provide patients with available manufacturer coupons or assistance programs Maintains and applies current knowledge of the 340B program as it relates to retail pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance. Supervises, collects, and analyzes Performance Improvement activities pertaining to specific pharmacy and healthcare functions.
