THE POSITION
The State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Nurse Clinical Instructor. In this role, you will be directly responsible for developing curricula and delivering instruction in core nursing prociples to elevate staff competency at Whiting Forensic Hospital, a maximum security forensic psychiatric hospital. HIGHLIGHTS
FACILITY: Whiting Forensic Hospital (WFH)
LOCATION: Middletown, CT
WORK HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours/week
WORK SHIFT: First shift, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday with occasional rotation to off shifts as needed to support educational needs of staff

ABOUT US
DMHAS is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve.

Whiting Forensic Hospital specializes in providing inpatient services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. The hospital consists of 91 maximum security beds and 138 enhanced security beds. Services are provided to individuals who are admitted under the following categories: Psychiatric Security Review Board commitment, Criminal court order for restoration of competency to stand trial, Civil commitment (voluntary or involuntary) and Transfer from the Department of Correction (during period of incarceration or at end of sentence). Discharge options are dependent on legal status and the purpose of admission.

PLEASE NOTE
A comprehensive medical examination, including a drug screening, will be required of all applicants upon a conditional offer of employment.
All state employees must adhere to Connecticut's Policy for a Drug Free Workplace.
Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of experience in hospital or institutional nursing as a Registered Nurse.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
A Bachelor's degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
A Master's degree in nursing may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a teaching/training role

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license as a Registered Nurse in Connecticut OR hold a Multistate or Compact Registered Nurse license.
