Chief Financial Officer CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER DEPARTMENT: Accounting and Payroll TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 months (230 days) SALARY: Based on Bulloch County Schools salary/supplement schedule FLSA STATUS: Exempt REPORTS TO: Superintendent JOB CODE: 465 POSITION SUMMARY: This position will be responsible for the oversight and management of the accounting department and the payroll department. This position requires the ability to maintain tight deadlines and manage a variety of accounting tasks including, but not limited to, general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, and support of budgeting and forecasting activities. While also, developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting/Finance. CPA license. Minimum of five years of experience in related field. Minimum of three years of supervisory experience leading a department of at least three or more staff. Experience working with a diverse group of people. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of school system accounting and experience working in a Georgia school system or related agency. Recipient of ‘Award of Distinction for Excellent Financial Reporting’. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates the annual budget process. Oversees the annual budget process in conjunction with the superintendent. Oversees the payroll process to ensure that it is complete in an accurate and timely manner. Oversees the accounts payable process to ensure that it is complete in an accurate and timely manner. Oversees cash collections and safekeeping in an accurate and timely manner. Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of all monthly financial information. Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of all year end financial information and coordinating with the auditors for the completion of the annual audit. Responsible for maintaining fixed assets inventory and all related processes. Responsible for all treasury management functions. Responsible for the hiring, training and retention of all accounting and payroll personnel. Responsible for the oversight and management of internal audits of the school activity accounts. Responsible for grants management, financial reporting, and compliance. Assists school principals and department supervisors in the hiring process for school/department bookkeepers. Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Collaborates with other departments and schools to support the system’s initiatives. Performs other duties as requested. Organizational Skills: Ability to establish priorities, simultaneously manage multiple tasks; and deliver a quality work product by a designated deadline. Ability to demonstrate professionalism while interacting with others and to maintain constructive working relationships. Attendance and Dependability: Ability to report to work at the scheduled time and to seldom be absent from work. Demonstrate prompt and regular work attendance. Process appropriate paperwork to authorize absences in accordance with school system procedures. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate manner and to be conscientious about work performance.
