The Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) is a progressive public health leader providing services that promote population health, protect public health and the environment, and ensure residents' equitable access to health services and information. Developing a competent public health workforce is integral to the Department’s mission. The Health Department further seeks to enhance its workforce with a dynamic and innovative professional to fill the Management Analyst II position within the Community Health Development Division. Essential Functions: The Public Health Youth Ambassador Program (PHYAP) Program Specialist- MAII supports the work of PHYAP in its mission to provide meaningful secondary school and career opportunities to Fairfax County 10th through 12th grade high school students interested in learning more about public health and healthcare sectors. The position reports to the PHYAP Project Manager, while supporting program development and implementation activities involving classroom engagement with students, curriculum material and lesson plan creation, workshop and event leadership, and general activities aiding in the support/recruitment of student and/or alumni members. The role also requires program evaluation and monitoring skills capable of tracking student engagement, recruitment and enrollment metrics through data analytics, reports generation, and program design development experience. This position provides administrative support and communications that can enhance student alumni, internship, mentorship, and workforce development opportunity outreach/events is essential Minimum Employment Standards: Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or more than three years of comparable professional experience required. Three or more years of experience in youth development, alumni, internship and mentorship activities involving teen audiences is required. Three or more years of classroom management, curriculum development, and discussion-based learning methodology knowledge is required. Three or more years of experience working with data analytics, reports generation, and monitoring is preferred. Three or more years of experience engaging business management and/or community stakeholders is preferred. More than two years of experience working with underserved and diverse populations is preferred. More than two years of experience running or managing activities for populations where English is a second language is a plus. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written, verbal, and telephone communication skills. Microsoft Office proficiency. Ability to adhere to confidentiality laws and handle sensitive information. Effective skills in fostering relationship-building, new partner engagement, and collaboration among multi-sector stakeholders, volunteers, and cohort participants throughout the Fairfax community are preferred. Fluency in English and other language such as Spanish, Farsi, Amharic, French, Korean, Arabic, Urdu, among others PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Job is generally sedentary in nature, and requires walking, standing, sitting (for long periods of time), and kneeling, reaching, bending, climbing stairs; may be required to lift or carry up to 25 pounds occasionally. Uses hands to grasp, handle, or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor; ability to operate keyboard driven equipment and computer and use touchscreen. Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing. Generally, work in an office environment is also required to perform job duties outside of a typical office setting (e.g. community locations, healthcare facilities) including outdoor settings in all-weather conditions and evening/nighttime hours.
