This role is essential in assisting veterans and their families with benefit eligibility, applications, and casemanagement. As a Department, we believe in "serving those who have served." Veteran cemeteries are a shrine to the memory of our Veterans who have passed. Connecticut Veterans Affairs takes great pride in maintaining these shrines to the very highest standard. The State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown is the largest state-operated Veterans cemetery in connecticut and is the final resting place for over 16,000 Veterans and their family members. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Five (5) years of experience in the determination of client eligibility for public assistance or investigation of client capital assets in relation to eligibility determination. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of the experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree in a closely related area may be substituted for the General Experience. Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience interviewing clients to determine benefit eligibility. Experience providing client orientation to support services. Experience assisting clients with benefit applications and providing follow-up support, including responding to request for additional information or denial explanations Experience with case management. Experience communicating with the Veteran population Experience working with federal or state benefit programs, such as Veterans Affairs, Medicare, or Medicaid Experience managing and tracking client benefits using data systems and spreadsheets Contact Information
