Job Description
Assistant Director, Student Development
FT/PT: Full-Time

General Position Description:
Responsible for supporting leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of Student Development programs, services, and initiatives. Assists with campus-based and/or college-wide leadership and supervision of co-curricular programs to engage students within the Student Development Program and/or Student Leadership Program. Manages a campus-based Student Activity Fee budget. Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance daily.


Salary Range: $59,576 - $67,321 per year

Description of Job Function:
1. Provides campus-based leadership and supervision for the development, implementation, and assessment of campus co-curricular programs, services, and initiatives designed to engage students within the Student Development Program.


Required Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Required Field of Study:




Other Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience in student development/student activity to include lead or supervisory experience and budget management experience.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of Student Development and learning centered approaches.
2. Skill in relationship management, including conflict engagement, facilitation, consulting, constructive inquiry, and collaboration.
3. Ability to manage and supervise a team of professional, support, and student employees.
4. Skill in the use of personal computers and general office software.
5. Fiscal integrity and the ability to manage multiple budgets.
6. Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student and employee populations.
7. Ability to travel between campus locations, and travel with students, faculty, and/or staff as needed.


General Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College’s worksites and grounds. Within the professional office environment, the employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate.

While operating outside of the office environment, the employee may be exposed to elements including but not limited to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The role may also involve hazards or physical risks, which require comprehending and following basic safety precautions and may require Personal Protection Equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning self, reaching, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-100 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
