Job Type: Open to the Public Close Date: 2/20/2026 11:59:00 PM The Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC), under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS), is seeking to hire a Clinical Social Worker. The CMHC provides comprehensive mental health treatment to individuals with serious behavioral health disorders who often present to the local hospital emergency rooms, are frequently involved in the court systems, and require a variety of clinical services to provide stability, medication management, and treatment. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS - Schedule: -- Monday - Friday -- Full-time (40 hours per week) -- First shift (8:30 AM - 5:00 PM) - Facility: CT Mental Health Center (CMHC) - Unit: Inpatient Unit - Location: 34 Park Street in New Haven, CT - Work Environment: Office/On-site - Position Number: 80439 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Maintains an individual clinical caseload of patients, providing individual therapy, case management, and treatment planning while also being responsible for the bulk of evidenced-based group therapies on the unit; - Conducts family support and provider meetings to ensure comprehensive discharge plans; - Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary inpatient treatment team, independently conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and treatment plans that consider developmental, social, and cultural factors as well as substance use and psychological, environmental, and medical issues; - Utilizes motivational interviewing techniques to support clients in reaching their recovery goals and in improving their health and well-being. CMHC - The Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC) is an urban community mental health center with an exceptional 50-year tradition of serving individuals with serious mental illness and/or addiction. Founded in 1966, CMHC is a partnership between DHMAS and the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Each year over 4,000 people receive a variety of recovery-oriented services at CMHC and its satellite clinics. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Licensure as a clinical social worker in the State of Connecticut. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license to practice clinical social work pursuant to Sec. 20-195 (m-z) of the Connecticut General Statutes. - Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a-7b(f). - Incumbents in this class may be required to have knowledge of sign language and communication ability with the deaf and hearing impaired in certain designated positions. - Incumbents in this class may be required to have ability in Spanish oral and written communication in certain designated positions. - Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
