Professional growth and development opportunities A healthy work/life balance to all employees POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Full time, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday First shift Location: 450 Columbus Blvd Hartford, CT Hybrid schedule (combination of in office/telework) THE ROLE The Platform Automation Engineer will be responsible for building and fine-tuning Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes, automating manual processes to support the agency, monitoring production operations, and collaborating with development teams to optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability. The ideal candidate must be willing to learn and adapt to new platforms, tools, and technologies as the organization evolves. If the platform stack changes or new solutions are introduced, the Platform Automation Engineer will be expected to acquire proficiency and provide training or support to the team on these changes within a reasonable period of time. Responsibilities include: Architect, develop, implement, and manage robust Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes to facilitate efficient software delivery. Manage Git and BitBucket processes as a version control system. Design, develop and maintain secure automated solutions across platforms that eliminate repetitive tasks, optimize business processes, enhance operational productivity, and speed up workflow. Continuously evaluate new technologies with the goal of improving efficiency, and present well-supported recommendations for their adoption and implementation. Collaborate with operations, architecture, development, and quality assurance teams to identify automation opportunities. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to cross-functional team members, fostering professional growth and promoting best practices and knowledge sharing. Monitor DevOps and platform workflows to resolve observed or reported issues, and optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability. Utilize Agile methodology to participate in sessions such as refinement, deployments, and retrospectives. Create and maintain documentation and knowledge sharing for automated solutions and automation best practices. Collaborate with State of Connecticut DevOps, Cloud and Application Engineering teams. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Nine (9) years of experience in infrastructure systems support, programming, database administration, systems/software development, networking or technical support. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been performing advanced technical level duties or as a working supervisor in such areas as: designing, configuring and implementing complex networks; configuring, installing and upgrading host-based applications packages and host and/or operating system software; system software/application development, performing any closely related advanced technical function. NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of an Information Technology Analyst 3. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED College training in management information systems, computer science or information technology related area may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) months of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
