The State of Connecticut, Department of Correction (DOC) is seeking to fill multiple positions for a highly motivated and experienced Psychologist to join our behavioral health clinical leadership team as a Supervising Psychologist 1 (Clinical).

This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) active first-shift vacancies, one in East Lyme and one in Montville, CT. We anticipate additional future vacancies at our other facilities throughout the next year and encourage those who are experienced and interested in making a positive impact amongst our incarcerated population to apply!

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

SHIFT: first shift, full-time, 40 hours per week.
SCHEDULE: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
LOCATIONS: York Correctional Institution (East Lyme, CT) or Corrigan Correctional Center in (Montville, CT).
NOTE: This is a Hazardous Duty position. Selected candidates will be required to attend a 3.5-week hazardous duty training at the Maloney Center for Training & Staff Development located in Cheshire, CT. See Selection Plan for more information.

YOUR ROLE

Supervising psychologists work within a dynamic, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team comprised of social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists and APRNs, as well as medical personnel and custody staff, all sharing the common goal of providing high quality, service-oriented care to our incarcerated populations.

Supervising Psychologists within the correctional setting provide a range of clinical, administrative and supervisory functions to persons in custody. In this role, you will work within a clinically rich setting, with opportunities to provide a mix of clinical, supervisory and administrative functions. These duties include:

Administrative Management: manage staff scheduling and coverage;
Clinical Leadership: provide clinical supervision and lead multidisciplinary clinical teams;
Clinical Healthcare: conduct psychological testing, deliver individual psychotherapy and implement behavior management strategies.
The Supervising Psychologist will also be responsible for providing clinical consultative services within the facility for complex cases. Additional opportunities to engage in collaborative care planning with external support services and research driven programming, are also encouraged and available.

Qualifications & Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
A Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology and two (2) years of postdoctoral experience as a licensed clinical psychologist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with forensic or justice involved clients.
Experience supervising Psychologists and/or Licensed Mental Health professionals.
Experience working within a bargaining unit workplace.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license to practice psychology in Connecticut. Any person employed by the State of Connecticut prior to July 1, 1985 with a title in the psychology series of the classified services shall be exempt from the above licensure requirements pursuant to Public Act 613, Section 119(c). For certain positions, the appointing authority may require State licensure.
Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a-7b(f).
Incumbents in this class may be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in the use of the American Sign Language.
Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
